Gypsum is a widely used ore in walls, accounting for approximately 60% of all wallboard production. It is a naturally occurring mineral composed of calcium sulfate dihydrate. Gypsum is mined from underground or open-pit mines and processed to create a powder known as plaster of Paris. This powder is mixed with water to form a slurry that is then poured into molds to create gypsum wallboard panels. Gypsum is a lightweight, fire-resistant, and sound-insulating material, making it an ideal choice for interior wall applications.
