Centripetal Acceleration: Velocity Direction Change And Motion

Turning a corner at constant velocity implies that the magnitude of velocity remains unchanged. However, its direction changes due to the change in the direction of motion. Since acceleration is the rate of change in velocity, a change in direction indicates a change in acceleration. The acceleration in this case is called centripetal acceleration, directed towards the center of the circular path. It arises from the presence of a centripetal force that keeps the object moving in a circular path.
